Keep smartphones away from your kids especially before Beds
The advancement in technology, have brought us a step closer to our loved ones and with the upcoming of these smartphones, we are now connecting to our loved ones in a more empowered way and are just separated by the distance only. But it rightly said that excess of everything is bad and so much addition to these smartphones are actually ruining our lives and we are experiencing difficulty in staying away from these gadgets even for the couple of minutes as well and the most affected ones are the kids who are continuously using these devices.
As a parent if you are also giving the smartphones to your kids to use them especially before beds so that you can accomplish your task timely then there is a bad news for you. According to recent research published in the journal Pediatrics, using a smartphone just before the bedtime is the main reason of sleep disruptions among kids which results in many kinds of mental disorders among the little ones.
According to the research, the child’s brain is in the developing and learning phase and continuous exposure to the blue light that is emitted by these smartphones and various other gadgets disturb the internal body clock in a child to a much greater extent; also the larger pupils of children make them more vulnerable towards the light sensitivity which they realise during the later phase of their lives. These two factors together have weaken the melatonin levels in a child, basically the Melatonin is a hormone that regulates the sleep cycle in one’s body and when due to prolonged use of smartphones, the amount of light is detected by the retina which reduces the melatonin levels.
Hence try to adhere to the following ways so that your child can come out of this addition:
First of all try to spend quality time with your little ones and narrate a story to them so that they can have better health and kids love to have a play time session with their parents. Also make sure that you are not allowing your children to play or watch videos on their smartphones for prolonged hours, rather encourage regular reading habits and free play time so that they can stay mentally and physically stronger.
Secondly, make sure that you are not keeping the smartphones at the bed side tables so that they don’t peak in a video or indulge in some live chats with their friends especially during the late night hours. Make sure that you are keeping the phones in different room and are giving them enough time to have healthy and undisturbed sleeps which is very important for them.
So make sure that you take the corrective as well as preventive steps on time so that you can ensure a healthy growth of your kids and they don’t face any health related issues later.
